Izzi has worked in the field of fine art photography since the mid 1960s. Trained as a painter at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he received his MFA, Izzi began taking photographs of the scenes that surrounded his painting studio in the mid-1960s.
Izzi has taught printmaking, film studies and photography at Xavier University, Sacramento State University, University of Hawaii, Hilo, and San Francisco City College.
After years in a conventional darkroom, Izzi switched to digital photography with the rest of the universe, and now teaches the San Francisco Portfolio Workshop at the Fort Marley Art Center.
